Anger

What is Anger?

Most people tend to see their anger as a negative thing. They tend to feel very ashamed after expressing their anger. In fact, anger is a positive emotion that can give us the energy and motivation to make a positive and constructive change to our lives. Used properly, anger can be a healthy and necessary reaction to many of life’s situations.

However, inappropriate anger can lead to excessive reactions like aggression or violence. Expression of anger in this way can harm our relationships. This is when we need to learn where the source of our anger comes from and new techniques that enable us to control and use it to our advantage.

Counselling and psychotherapy offers the opportunity to address negative behaviours and to explore other modes of self-expression that can support and enhance your relationships. At Oldcastle Counselling Centre we can help you to:

  • Acknowledge how your anger is impacting you and the people around you.
  • Recognise what triggers your anger.
  • Learn and develop skills that help you to control/manage your response to these triggers.
  • Learn and develop skills that help you to react to your triggers in a manner that is constructive and beneficial to you.

At Oldcastle Counselling Centre, we will draw up a tailored treatment plan that will help you to manage your anger and to communicate effectively.
